The Government Medical Officers’ Association attributes the inadequate supply of vaccine doses as the main reason for issues arising at certain vaccination centres.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo, member of the GMOA Dr. Prasad Colambage said the Ministry of Health does not provide the required number of vaccines as requested by medical staff.
Dr. Colambage said it is evident through daily media reports that the vaccination process is not conducted in an organised manner. He said they investigated and informed the Ministry of the reasons behind the issues.
Dr. Colambage said the required vaccine doses are not being distributed stringently to the relevant centres.
He said there is also no adequate support extended to the programme carried out through the Ministry.
