The opposition claims the government is attempting to reopen the country by concealing the actual coronavirus figures and portraying to the masses that the disease is under control.
Speaking during a media briefing today, Parliamentarian Harshana Rajakaruna said the number of PCR and Rapid Antigen tests conducted in the country last week was drastically low.
MP Rajakaruna said the government has shown less figures pertaining to the number of fatalities and questioned how the number of daily infections decreased from 4,000-5,000 range to 2,500-3,000 range.
The Parliamentarian 20,000-25,000 PCR tests had been conducted daily during the month of August, however last week the number of tests had been halved.
He said 11,403 PCR tests were conducted on the 6th of September, while 10,395 PCR tests were conducted on the 8th. MP Rajakaruna said only 3,000-4,000 Rapid Antigen tests had been carried out daily during the past week..
The Parliamentarian therefore of the view that the data released at present to the country are not a reflection of the real situation pertaining to the coronavirus spread.
