The Government Medical Officers’ Association says the approval of the National Advisory Committee on Infectious Diseases is required in order to begin administering the Pfizer vaccine dose to healthy children between the ages of 12 and 19.
Issuing a statement the GMOA said, the Director General of Health Services must take steps to convene the committee promptly and seek approval at the earliest.
The statement said the technical committee on vaccinations of the Ministry of Health has granted its approval for the vaccination of healthy children.
The GMOA claimed the approval of the National Advisory Committee on Infectious Diseases for vaccinations will support the prompt reopening of schools in future.
Children between the ages of 12 and 19 with chronic and inherent illnesses are currently being vaccinated.
