Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella has instructed Ministry officials to expedite the ongoing vaccination drive underway at district levels.
The Minister instructed that vaccination doses be provided at Divisional Medical Officer of Health level in order to ensure a stringent vaccination drive of all individuals between the ages of 30 and 60 as well as individuals above the age of 60 in each district.
Minister Rambukwella issued directives to take all possible steps to ensure the second dose of the COVID-vaccine is administered on the scheduled date at the same vaccination centre that administered the first dose.
The Minister said complaints lodged from certain districts must be taken into consideration adding a healthy relationship must be maintained between District and Divisional Secretaries, Provincial Directors of Health and Divisional Medical Officers of Health for this purpose.
Health officials had expressed confidence that all individuals above the age of 30 can be fully vaccinated with the four million vaccine doses that are scheduled to arrive this week.
