Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena has issued a special statement ahead of the reopening of schools for the new term tomorrow.
Minister Gunawardena said not only the parents but the entire country is pleased that students will be returning to school tomorrow.
The Education Minister said he is hopeful that teachers will also return to school tomorrow to welcome the students.
Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said education is the future and the strength of the nation.
The Education Minister said the President, the Prime Ministers and the Minister of Finance have tabled a favourable solution for the salary anomalies issues of teachers.
The Minister said no one can prevent teachers from returning to schools across the country tomorrow. Under the first phase of reopening schools after the third COVID-19 wave, schools with less than 200 students will be reopened.
The Secretary to the Ministry of Education Kapila Perera said they are hoping to reopen 5,131 schools under the first phase.
Accordingly, those schools will reopen tomorrow and the Education Ministry has requested all factions to adhere to health guidelines when returning to schools.
