The Ministry of Health has re-iterated that it has not concealed any data related to the coronavirus situation in the country.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, the Head of the Disaster Preparedness and Response Division of the Ministry of Health Dr. Hemantha Herath said there are no concerns about the accuracy of the data released regarding COVID-19 related deaths and infections confirmed in Sri Lanka thus far.
Dr. Hemantha Herath however acknowledged there have been delays in reporting daily numbers since they receive information from multiple sources.
He said all discrepancies are rectified as soon as they verify through the complex data gathering model.
Dr. Hemantha Herath said they will not be able to deal with the current situation by concealing data and noted that they will face difficulties more so than the general public, if accurate data are not gathered and disseminated.
Dr. Herath stressed that therefore no one should cast doubt about the data released by the Health Ministry regarding the coronavirus situation in the country.
