Media Spokesman of the Ministry of Health Specialist Dr. Hemantha Herath says the decline that was witnessed in the number of daily COVID-19 cases has come to a halt.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo Dr. Hemantha Herath said the prevailing situation is sufficient to seriously rethink the coronavirus situation in the country.
He noted although there hasn’t been an increase in infections, a visible drop in cases not being witnessed is a serious concern.
Dr. Herath claimed it will be too late if action is taken after the number of infections increase again, adding that steps must be taken to minimise the spread of the virus.
He added although groups are requesting more PCR tests to be conducted to identify infected individuals, the virus spreads rapidly.
Dr. Herath therefore urged all factions to adhere to health guidelines, and to take steps to prevent the spread of the virus.
