A decision on whether quarantine curfew will be extended or lifted on Tuesday, the 21st of September, will be announced today.
The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 is due to convene today under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Health authorities will issue a guideline today for the functions of the country in the event quarantine curfew is eased and the country is reopened.
The President at the previous meeting of the COVID-19 Task Force issued directives to compile a report on restrictions that should be imposed in the event quarantine curfew is eased after the 21st of September.
The committee will also discuss a series of recommendations by the health sector regarding the reopening of schools.
Island-wide quarantine curfew is due to be lifted on Tuesday at 4am.
Quarantine curfew has been in place since the 20th of August in a bid to control the spread of the coronavirus.
