The Sri Lanka College of Paediatricians says the COVID-19 positive rate among children is on a rapid decline.
President of the College Dr. Shaman Rajindrajith said the number of child deaths has also dropped in comparison to before.
Dr. Rajindrajith said a number of wards were allocated to treated COVID-positive children during the past few months with an increase in cases.
However, he noted that hospitals are beginning to function as before and commended this development as a positive sign.
Meanwhile, with the drop in the number of coronavirus child patients at the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital, wards allocated to treat COVID-positive children have been re-allocated to treat general patients.
