The Public Health Inspector’s Union of Sri Lanka says the coronavirus is spreading rapidly across the country due to the conduct of political meetings.
Chairman of the Union Upul Rohana said there is a high risk of COVID-19 in the world at present adding that the Omicron variant is spreading rapidly in the country and across the world.
Rohana said amidst the prevailing situation, health guidelines and legal provisions were eased in order to carry out operations as usual, due to the weak state of the country’s economy.
Rohana requested the public to refrain from attending unnecessary political meetings that do not have any impact on their finances.
He claimed the country is being pushed towards having to close again, due to unnecessary political meetings and public gatherings.
