Another 845 COVID-19 cases have been detected in Sri Lanka today, raising the number of confirmed infections to 601,048.
Among the new cases, 841 have been linked to the New Year COVID-19 cluster while four persons who arrived in the country from overseas recently also tested positive for COVID-19.
Accordingly, the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 9,832 persons are currently receiving treatment for coronavirus at several facilities across the country.
Earlier today, 171 persons who recovered from COVID-19 were discharged from hospitals, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 575,932.
2,500 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.
Sri Lanka’s coronavirus death toll is currently at 15,258.
