The Ministry of Health says all local government bodies in the country will be converted into vaccination centres to expedite booster vaccinations.
Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella has issued directives to Regional and District Directors of Health Services to expedite the provision of booster jabs by the Regional Medical Officers’ Offices and to set up several centres for this purpose in each division.
Accordingly, Minister Rambukwella believes the booster vaccine will be available to the target population in the coming weeks.
The Minister was speaking at a discussion at the Health Ministry yesterday.
The Ministry said 28% of the target population in the country has been administered the booster shot.
The Ministry added 45 million vaccine doses have been imported during a year since the vaccination drive was launched in Sri Lanka.
