The Ministry of Health says 90,524 people have thus far received treatment for COVID-19 through the home care programme launched in July.
The Ministry said 6,211 coronavirus positive patients are being treated at homes at present.
The information was revealed during a discussion between the Resident Representative of the World Health Organisation to Sri Lanka Dr. Alaka Singh and Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella today.
The 14-day treatment programme allows patients to conveniently receive treatment at home and avoid unnecessary hospital congestion.
The Health Minister said hospital admissions under the home treatment programme are minimal and is around 1.4% and has therefore proven to beneficial.
