Only 58,994 vaccine doses against COVID-19 were administered in Sri Lanka yesterday.
The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 2,475 individuals were administered the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, while 135 persons received the second jab.
Meanwhile 3,136 persons were administered the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine while 25,838 individuals received the second dose.
During yesterday’s vaccination drive, 20,284 individuals have been inoculated with the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine while 268 persons had received the second Pfizer jab.
Furthermore, 268 persons were given the first jab of the Moderna vaccine while 2,820 received the second jab. 4,012 individuals had also received the second dose of the Sputnik-V vaccine yesterday.
According to the Health Ministry 21,908,847 vaccine doses have been administered in Sri Lanka since January.
Meanwhile, 257 vaccination centres are in operation today. Vaccination centres have been established in 22 districts.
Meanwhile, vaccination of youth, aged between 20-29 years, residing in the Western Province and in the Galle district, against COVID-19 will begin this morning.
