President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has issued directives to administer the Pfizer vaccine to 18 and 19-year-old school children at their respective schools from the 21st of October.
The President’s Media Division issuing a statement said youth in this age category who aren’t schooling can obtain the Pfizer vaccine from respective regional Medical Office of Health.
The President issued the directives at the COVID-19 Prevention Task Force meeting that was held this morning.
The President said the vaccination of children should be carried out under the supervision of a doctor.
During the meeting it was revealed that 100% of the 60 and above population and 98% of the 30 and above age group have been vaccinated thus far.
President Rajapaksa issued directives to ensure that youth between the 20 and 30 age categories are vaccinated without delay.
It was also revealed that 10,000 children between the 12 and 19 age group with inherent and chronic illnesses have received the first vaccine dose thus far.
