Another 160 COVID-19 related fatalities have been confirmed in Sri Lanka, the highest single-day increase since the pandemic began.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 5,935.
The Director General of Health Services in a statement said all 160 deaths were confirmed yesterday, 13th of August.
87 males and 73 females were among the victims.
124 persons, 66 males and 60 females among the group that succumbed to the virus, were 60 years of age or above.
Meanwhile, 35 individuals, 22 males and 13 females, were between 30 and 59 years of age.
A male who was below the age of 30 years also passed away yesterday after contracting the novel coronavirus.
