The Government Medical Officers’ Association has raised serious concerns over the steep increase in daily COVID-19 related deaths.
Speaking to media, Member of the GMOA Dr. Prasad Colombage said more than 50 deaths are being reported on a daily basis at present.
He said according to current projections nearly 4,000 to 4,500 COVID-deaths could occur within a month.
Dr. Prasad Colombage said this is a dangerous trend and noted even during the height of the war; Sri Lanka did not report such high daily death tolls.
He said the public should be mindful of the situation and act accordingly.
