Director of the Health Promotion Bureau Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa has refuted claims of coronavirus data being concealed.
Speaking at a media briefing today, Dr. Batuwanthudawa said the instance of an error in data being reported, should be considered a positive sign, as it revealed the shortcomings in the prevalent system.
He however claimed that charges of COVID-data being concealed cannot be accepted.
Dr. Batuwanthudawa added the rise in coronavirus cases and deaths, will help in identifying why discrepancies are reported, adding that all data is being assessed and entered.
He noted that the number of PCR tests that were recorded were also inaccurate over the past two days, claiming that all this must be corrected on the database.
While acknowledging that the data flowing in is accurate, Dr. Batuwanthudawa said data entering is a concern.
He noted the Ministry of Health and the Epidemiology Unit are working together to resolve this error.
