State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and Covid Disease Control Sudarshini Fernandopulle says the COVID-19 threat in the country has not diminished despite a slight reduction in the number of daily coronavirus related deaths and new cases.
Speaking to media after inspecting a vaccination centre yesterday, State Minister Sudarshini Fernandopulle said in order to reduce its threat, the public should diligently seek to obtain both doses of COVID-vaccines made available in Sri Lanka by authorities.
The State Minister claimed the government vaccination drive is operating successfully to complete vaccinations of everyone above 30 years of age in all districts.
She requested citizens to contact their nearest Medical Office of Health and obtain a coronavirus vaccine, if they have not been inoculated against the virus thus far.
State Minister Fernandopulle said a majority of COVID-related deaths included those who have not been vaccinated, and those with underlying health conditions.
