COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka rise to 293,113

The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in Sri Lanka has risen to 293,113 following the detection of 1,815 patients, yesterday.

The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in Sri Lanka has risen to 293,113 following the detection of 1,815 patients, yesterday.

Among yesterday’s cases 1,785 were linked to the New Year COVID-19 cluster.

30 persons who arrived in the country recently from overseas also tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said accordingly 23,446 persons are currently receiving treatment for coronavirus at several facilities across the country.

Yesterday, 953 persons who recovered from COVID-19 were discharged from hospitals, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 265,708.

977 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.

43 COVID-19 related fatalities were also confirmed in Sri Lanka yesterday, raising the death toll to 4,002.
