Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardana says the country is facing a major crisis pertaining to the financial situation adding the Opposition should also accept the reality of the issues arising through this.
Minister Gunawardana said after gaining independence specially after 1977, the daily government expenditure had increased.
The Minister defined capital expenditure as expenses incurred on a daily basis by a government.
He said main expenses including payment of wages, pensions, interest payments for government debt and other social welfare expenditure.
Minister Gunawardana said due to these reasons all budgets tabled in the Parliament has a deficit in the recurring account.
The Minister claimed no government is capable of earning sufficient funds to fulfill the daily expenditure.
