State Minister Channa Jayasumana says there is a fear that the coronavirus pandemic, which was brought under control with great dedication by the health and security sectors, will once again spread owing to the actions of the Opposition.
The State Minister speaking during the Committee Stage Debate in Parliament this afternoon said the opposition’s foolish acts could lead to the spread of the coronavirus and expressed his disappointment in the conduct of today’s protest.
State Minister Jayasumana said today people have been brought to the streets for a protest adding this is not a feat to be proud of nor is it an act of bravery.
He claimed the public nor government want a repeat of the August COVID-19 situation once again in November.
The State Minister urged the opposition to think of the people and to instead use more creative ways to raise objections.
