State Minister of Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna says a control price will be set for PCR and Rapid Antigen tests next week.
45 hospitals conducting PCR tests and 43 hospitals conducting Rapid Antigen tests were inspected by officials of the Consumer Affairs Authority in 21 districts.
Inspections revealed that tests were carried out at different price rates.
Accordingly, it was revealed that a PCR test costs between Rs.5,000-Rs.9,500 while an Antigen test costs between Rs.2,000 and Rs.5,900.
Therefore State Minister Alagiyawanna said steps will be taken to set a control price for tests from next week.
