The Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine of the Sri Jayawardenepura University has encouraged close contacts of a COVID-positive patient to get tested within three to five days after exposure.
The Director of the Department Dr. Chandima Jeewandara taking to Twitter quoting the Centres for Disease Control recommended, testing.
The previous recommendation for close contacts was to test five to seven days after exposure.
Dr. Jeewandara said, in his personal opinion, in the event an individual exhibits symptom a Rapid Antigen test can be carried out while an asymptomatic close contact should undergo a PCR test.
