Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says a conspiracy is being carried out within the government to weaken President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Speaking to media after the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Central Committee meeting held at the party headquarters yesterday, the Minister said the President should direct his attention in this regard.
Minister Amaraweera stressed no discussion was held yesterday pertaining to a decision on whether the SLFP will leave the present government, adding he is prepared to resign from his Ministerial post and leave the government at any time the party decides.
The Minister said the SLFP Parliamentary group does not have varying opinions, adding when needed they present their objections.
The Minister added however they will not reveal such matters to media.
Minister Amaraweera said they have the right to point out mistakes of the government.
He stated around 30 persons have been asked to leave the government, adding it is a conspiracy against the President.
The Minister claimed if a large group leaves the government, it will lose it’s simple majority as well.
When inquired on whether Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MPs will also leave the government with the SLFP, Minister Amaraweera said they will be able to see who leaves, if the SLFP leaves.
