A complaint will be filed before the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka today, claiming that a number of parties, including expectant women and breast-feeding mothers are at risk due to the decision to recall all public servants to work amidst COVID-19.
General Secretary of the Development Officers’ Service Association Chandana Sooriyarachchi speaking to NewsRadio said the rights of those who should be given special care have been violated.
Sooriyarachchi said health authorities have stated that COVID-19 is spreading rapidly at present.
He noted the Union will lodge a complaint with the Human Rights Commission, against the circular to summon all state sector employees to work, by cancelling the rotational basis of summoning employees.
He added the circular also removed special provisions for various groups especially expectant women.
Sooriyarachchi said as a result, various groups are at serious risk.
