Colombo records 347 new COVID-cases

The Colombo district yesterday recorded 347 new coronavirus cases.

1,721 new COVID-19 infections were reported yesterday increasing Sri Lanka’s virus caseload to 291,298.

218 new patients were detected from Gampaha, 209 from Kalutara, 139 from Ratnapura, 116 from Galle and 109 from Ampara.

The National Operation Centre for COVID-19 Prevention Outbreak said 91 positive cases were identified in Kandy, 72 in Hambantota, 66 in Matale, 54 in Kegalle, 39 in Kurunegala and 36 each in Anuradhapura and Matara.

Furthermore, 33 individuals tested positive for the coronavirus in Batticaloa and Monaragala while 23 persons contracted the virus in Badulla, 21 in Nuwara Eliya, 20 each in Polonnaruwa and Puttalam and nine in Vavuniya.

Meanwhile seven COVID-19 cases each were recorded from Kilinochchi, Trincomalee and Jaffna while seven persons who arrived in the island from overseas recently also tested positive for the virus.

Two cases were identified in Mullaitivu as well.
