Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha today informed that steps will be taken to protect school children from the circulation of narcotics including methamphetamine, and as a preventative step school bags will be thoroughly checked.
The Minister speaking in Parliament today (7) said a circular will be issued in this regard.
He said large quantities of heroin has been seized in attempts to smuggle drugs into the country while revealing that the tendency is high for narcotics to be circulated among school children.
Minister Premajayantha added strict action must be taken in this regard while parents and the school community must also direct close attention to such concerns.
Joining the debate Our Power of People Party Parliamentarian Athuraliye Ratana thera said the transportation of drugs such as ICE can be done with ease adding that preventing the circulation is a difficult task.
