Curtains will come down on the COVID-hit 2020 Tokyo Olympics Games in Japan tomorrow.

The Olympic Games, which was postponed by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, got underway at National Olympic Stadium in Tokyo on the 23rd of July with more than 200 nations fielding their stars.

Nine Sri Lankans featured at this year’s games although no notable achievements were reached on the field in Tokyo.

The penultimate day of the competition is currently underway.

China is continuing to top the Medals Table after 14 days of competitions in Japan.

China has won 86 medals in total including 38 gold, 30 silver and 18 bronze medals.

The United States remains second in the standings and is the only nation to have claimed more than 100 medals at the Tokyo Games.

The US tally of 103 includes, 34 gold medals, 37 silver and 32 bronze.

Hosts Japan has 25 gold, 12 silver and 17 bronze medals.

Great Britain has won 20 gold medals while the Russian Olympic Committee has secured 19 gold medals.

Australia has won 17 gold medals while Germany, Italy and the Netherlands have won 10 gold medals each so far in Tokyo.

91 counties in total have won at least one medal at the games.
