Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong has held discussions with Asian Development Bank officials regarding Sri Lanka’s current economic situation.
The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka said Ambassador Qi Zhenhong held a discussion with ADB’s South Asian Department Director General Kenichi Yokoyama and its Sri Lanka Mission Director Chen Chen today.
Two parties had exchanged views on Sri Lanka’s current economic situation and the revitalization plans.
Meanwhile, yesterday Minister Ramesh Pathirana said the financial services company Lazard is in the process of speaking to India, China and Japan for the restructuring of Sri Lanka’s debt.
Minister Ramesh Pathirana confirmed the development when questioned by media over the status of Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring process following discussions held with the International Monetary Fund.
The government earlier this year selected France based Lazard to provide financial advisory services and Clifford Chance LLP to provide legal advisory services to support Sri Lanka on debt restructuring.
