The government of China has donated 10.6 million litres of diesel to farmers and fishermen in remote areas of Sri Lanka.
The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka said the diesel was provided to farmers to upgrade livelihoods in the most affected sectors of agriculture and fisheries.
The Embassy stated that the shipment of diesel is scheduled to arrive between November and December, which will be distributed to the needy at the earliest.
The Embassy in a Twitter post noted that during the past five months, the Chinese government has handed over 5,500MT of rice and Rs.3 billion worth of essential medicines as emergency humanitarian donation to Sri Lanka.
