Health authorities say after testing positive for COVID-19, some children develop Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome that affects various organs.
Speaking to media Head of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, Dr. Nalin Kitulwatte said five children who were found to be suffering from the condition on Sunday were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital.
Dr. Kitulwatte said it has also been uncovered that adults could also be afflicted with the similar condition that affects organs.
He claimed that there have been instances when newborns contract Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome if the mother had contracted the coronavirus.
