Chief Prelate write to President over prevailing situation in the country

KANDY (NewsRadio); The Chief Prelate of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters have commended the steps taken by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to bring back some normalcy to the country after a turbulent period where major economic, political and social instability existed last year.

Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera and the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanaratana Thera expressed their sentiments in a letter addressed to the President.

The Chief Prelate meanwhile called on the President to take steps to reduce the cost of living, ease the burden on the people and introduce a policy-based mechanism to control social instability.

The letter also notes the importance of the government taking steps to immediately to address the economic challenges and introduce a people-friendly policy to safeguard the lives of the public.

Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera and the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanaratana Thera also highlighted the duties of responsibilities of all stakeholders to ensure economic stability in the country.

The Chief Prelate added that it is the responsibility of the government to conduct the Local Authorities Election.
