COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says a charge sheet has been drafted against the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka, Janaka Ratnayake.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Minister Wijesekera said legal measures will be taken by the government to remove the PUCSL Chairman.
The Minister said the PUCSL Chairman has violated several clauses of the Act while he has also acted arbitrarily and prevented the approval of the energy plan of the Ceylon Electricity Board.
Minister Wijesekera said the current PUCSL Chairman refused to approve the plan presented to provide uninterrupted power supply to the public from the 1st of January.
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said all government Members of Parliament are prepared support action taken to remove the PUCSL Chairman from the post.
He said the process will be initiated once Parliament convenes on the 8th of February.
In response to the statement by the Minister of Power and Energy this morning, Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka Janaka Ratnayake said that he is eagerly waiting to face the charge sheet said to have been prepared against him.
