Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha says from the 2023 school academic year that begins in March, students will be assessed on exercise lesson by lesson, instead of term examinations in primary sections and grades will be recorded and student evaluations and assessments will be implemented based on the grades on the lesson exercises and the final term exam.
The Minister speaking at an event today (21) said relevant changes will be introduced and a programme will be prepared to provide more training and learning opportunities for children who will leave schools in future for university entrance or technical colleges based on their talent and interest.
Minister Premajayantha added that by reducing the number of holidays and engaging in more studies, all syllabi will be covered and school education activities will be restored by December 2023.
He noted that uniforms, textbooks and school equipment including exercise books will be provided on time, despite the difficulties, and emphasised that discipline in children is crucial to achieve this goal.
