The Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Union says it has decided to suspend its work-to-rule campaign.
A member of the union informed NewsRadio that they have decided to suspend their trade union action after they received an invitation to meet the President on Monday for a discussion.
Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Union members launched a work-to-rule campaign on the 25th of November over several issues including the controversial Kerawalapitiya Yugadanavi Power Plant agreement.
The Union demanded that the government not proceed with the deal with US-based energy company, which includes a transfer of 40% of shares of West Coast Power Private Limited (WCPL) – the owner of the Yugadanavi Power Plant in Kerawalapitiya.
The Union also called on authorities to put an immediate stop to the abrupt transfers of senior management of the CEB.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, the Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Union announced that its members will withdraw from power restoration activities with immediate effect.
