COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Convener of the Ceylon Electricity Board Joint Trade Union Alliance Ranjan Jayalal says CEB employees will not disconnect electricity supply of residences of people who are unable to pay the increased electricity bills.
Speaking to media, Ranjan Jayalal stressed that it is not reasonable to further burden the general public at this juncture.
He said the average Sri Lankan will not be able pay their monthly electricity bills if the proposed tariffs are enforced.
Ranjan Jayalal noted that therefore the CEB employees have taken a decision to refrain from duties of disconnecting electricity supply to residences.
He also said the proposal by the Minister of Power and Energy to pay an allowance to low-income families cannot be practically implemented.
