The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has assured President Gotabaya Rajapaksa of intentions to promote a number of sectors, including exports and tourism, when the country returns to normalcy in line with the vaccination drive.
Newly-elected office-bearers of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce called on the President at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.
The office bearers commended the President’s efforts to return normalcy through the vaccination programme, adding that infrastructure has been rapidly developed, especially the road network.
They pointed out that its benefits would greatly enhance investment opportunities.
The officials of the CCC highlighted the possibility of expanding export opportunities by entering a Free Trade Agreement with the UK.
The officials said the National Agenda Committees of the CCC paid special attention to the government’s programmes implemented to promote sustainable energy, agriculture and the field of technology.
The President said one main objective of the government is to remove any obstacles and to encourage exports by preventing corruption and malpractices through the introduction of digitalization.
The President said the government’s responsibility is to create employment opportunities and pointed out the need to provide opportunities for new generations to come forward as entrepreneurs and businesspersons.
