The Ceylon Electricity Board says amendments cannot be made to the daily power cut duration during the 2022 Advanced Level Examination.
The CEB said the Chairman of the Board informed the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka in writing of the inability to make amendments.
The CEB informed that a high cost is incurred for power generation and sufficient funds are lacking for this purpose.
The PUCSL previously informed the CEB to refrain from disrupting power after 7pm considering students sitting the A/Level Examination.
The Department of Examinations also stated that authorities informed that power cuts will not be enforced during the A/Level Exam.
The Department said it received the confirmation following a request made by Commissioner-General of Examinations Amith Jayasundara.
The Examinations Commissioner-General had made a request from the Ceylon Electricity Board not to impose daily power cuts during this period.
The 2022 Advanced Level Examination is scheduled to be worked off at 2,200 examination centres from the 23rd of January to the 17th of February.
At present, the CEB imposes two-hour-and-30- minute power cuts daily.
