The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the government will be able to control the pandemic through self isolation, even though it is not willing to impose a lockdown in the country considering the present situation.
Speaking to media in Kandy, National Organiser of the party Tissa Attanayake said the government’s efforts to control the pandemic have failed.
The MP blamed the country’s situation on the government ignoring expert medical advice.
He also recalled that the World Health Organisation pointed out certain protocols to be implemented and curb the community spread, including social distancing, and prompt vaccinations.
The MP called on the public to appreciate efforts of certain traders and residents to self isolate themselves during this time even though the government has refused to impose a lockdown.
He assured Sri Lankans can escape the pandemic if we take care of ourselves and self isolate.
Media also questioned the Parliamentarian over investigations conducted into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
In reply the Parliamentarian said the government came into power promising justice for the victims, but has not done anything to resolve the issue.
Parliamentarian Attanayake said the present administration stressed that they will ensure national security, but are now trying to shun responsibility.
