The Gampaha Police today informed Gampaha Magistrate Manjula Karunaratne that a camera was found in a female toilet at a private education institution in Gampaha.
Police informed that investigations have been initiated based on a complaint lodged by the father of a student who is scheduled to sit for the 2023 GCE Advanced Level Examination.
According to Police, the complainant’s daughter was attending extra classes at the institution and had told her friends that she saw a camera in the toilet.
Police said the students had also witnessed the mother of the individual running the private institution removing the camera from the toilet.
Police informed Court that the camera was handed over to the Police by the owner of the building and the wife of the individual that operates the institution.
Police said statements have been recorded from the relevant individuals, and a number of students attending classes.
The Gampaha Magistrate’s Court ordered Police to conduct further investigations and table facts before Court.
