A decision has been taken to submit a number of recommendations presented during today’s Cost of Living Committee in relation to essential commodities, before the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Cost of Living Committee met under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today and several Ministers including Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa attended the meeting.
State Minister of Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna said a number of recommendations were submitted during the meeting to address the current shortage in the market regarding powdered milk, gas and several other commodities.
State Minister Alagiyawanna said accordingly a decision was taken to submit the recommendations before the Cabinet on Monday and obtain approval.
