The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal by the Minister of Wildlife and Forest Conservation to amend compensation payments for individuals who succumb or are left disabled and property damages due to attacks by wild animals, such as elephants, leopards, bears, wild buffalos and crocodiles.
The Cabinet Paper said the compensation for loss of life and disabilities will be increased to Rs.1 million, Rs.150,000 for partial disabilities or physical injuries and Rs.200,000 for property damages caused by wild elephant attacks.
