COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to the new draft Central Bank of Sri Lanka Bill.
The Cabinet paper in this regard has been presented by the President to enact the Central Bank Act.
Although the Central Bank Bill was approved by the Cabinet and submitted to Parliament in 2019, it was not included in the agenda book to be ratified.
Accordingly, considering the current requirements, new amendments have been included to the original bill in order to facilitate the Central Bank to perform its duties more efficiently and effectively.
The Cabinet approved the bill ratified by the legal draftsman which will now be presented in Parliament.
