The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association say steps must be taken to prevent individuals travelling across provinces using various methods.
Inter-provincial travel has been completely suspended once again as of midnight yesterday considering the spread of the coronavirus.
Speaking to NewsRadio, Chairman of the Association Gemunu Wijeratne said he wrote to the President yesterday regarding the matter.
Wijeratne said although Inter-provincial bus transport services have been halted there are issues arising due to persons travelling across provinces regardless of restrictions.
He said the government and the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID -19 Outbreak must reach practical decisions.
Wijeratne said he requested the President to consider providing relief to private bus operators for leasing payments and the removal of the interest on loan instalments at least until December.
