COLOMBO (NewsRadio); A breakdown of Generator No. 3 of the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant has been reported.

The Ceylon Electricity Board has notified the issue to Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera.

Meanwhile, Minister Wijesekera said the Generator No. 3 of the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant was due to undergo major overhaul maintenance in April.

Due to the breakdown of the generator, the National Grid has lost about 300 Megawatts of electricity.

Meanwhile, Power and Energy Minister Wijesekera noted that in order to ensure an uninterrupted power supply, the CEB-owned diesel and fuel oil power plants will be used.

He said there will be no power cuts due to the breakdown.
