The Supreme Court today ordered the petition filed by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka citing that the fundamental rights of the public have been violated by the increase in prices of essential goods and services, will be taken up for consideration on the 4th of April.
This petition was taken up today before Justices Gamini Amarasekara, Arjuna Obeysekara and Achala Wengappulli.
The petition filed by the Bar Association requests the Supreme Court to issue a directive to the Cabinet of Ministers including the Prime Minister to grant concessions to the public.
40 individuals including the Prime Minister, the Cabinet of Ministers, Secretaries of Ministries, and the Attorney General have been cited as respondents in the petition.
