COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association says it will not reduce prices of bakery items despite the massive reduction in LP gas prices.
President of the Association NK Jayawardena noted that despite the gas price reduction, nearly 75 percent of bakeries use either, diesel, firewood or electricity in their operations.
NK Jayawardena said therefore they are not in a position to reduce the prices of bakery items.
He said if the prices of wheat flour, margarine, yeast and eggs reduce in the future, they will consider reducing the prices of bakery items.
Earlier this week, the price of a 12.5kg Litro domestic gas cylinder was reduced by Rs. 452 in addition to the last month’s Rs. 1,005 price reduction.
Accordingly, a 12.5kg Litro domestic gas cylinder is now available for Rs. 3,186 in Colombo.
Furthermore, the price of a 5kg LP gas cylinder was reduced by Rs.181 to Rs.1,281 while the price of 2.3kg Litro gas cylinder has been reduced by Rs.83 to Rs.598.
Litro Gas Company Chairman Muditha Peiris said the prices were reduced based on the government-approved pricing formula.
