The All Island Bakery Owners Association charges that a 37kg gas cylinder used in the bakery industry has been increased by Rs.750.
President of the Association NK Jayawardena speaking to NewsRadio said the bakery industry if facing further difficulties due to the gas shortage.
Jayawardena said most bakery owners purchase the 37kg cylinder adding that this matter has not been as it is not known to many.
He said another difficulty faced in the industry is concerns related to sugar.
He added a kilogram of sugar which was sold between Rs.80-90 is now Rs.150. He noted all their requests have been in vain.
Jayawardena said sugar is used in many industries and is a key ingredient in the bakery industry.
