The JVP says attempts are underway to once again create religious unrest in the country.

Speaking to media in Kalutara, former JVP Parliamentarian Nalinda Jayathissa said it is evident through the sudden detection of hand grenades and reports of email threats from unknown parties.

The former JVP MP claimed certain individuals resurfaced from hiding, in a bid to fulfill political agendas of certain factions. Jayathissa noted the present government came into power on the pledge to punish all those involved in the Easter Sunday attacks.

He said the Catholic community and the Cardinal waited patiently for two whole years for the government to fulfil its election pledges.

Former MP Jayathissa said Minister Sarath Weerasekara made a claim earlier that they identified a mastermind and recently made another statement that the government is seeking to track down the mastermind behind the Easter attacks.

He said the Catholic community has no more patience after waiting two years and decided to go before the international community over the Easter bombings.

Nalinda Jayathissa said in this backdrop, certain figures are resurfacing to create unrest among communities.
